Havana, April 17 (RHC)—Cuba reports 31 fatalities related to the novel coronavirus since the first cases were reported on the island on March 11.

During his daily briefing to update media and the public in general on the situation on the island, Dr. Francisco Duran Garcia, Head of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health, noted that patients who have succumbed to the disease, like the four who passed away on Thursday, predominantly suffer from pre-existing and chronic conditions.

Likewise, the expert noted the increasing number of asymptomatic people that are testing positive to COVID19 in Cuba.  On Thursday, they were over 60 percent of confirmed cases.
