Havana, April 18 (RHC)—In Cuba 986 positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected. As of Friday,  725 of them remain active.  The Caribbean island already reports 32 deaths, for a lethality of 3.2%.

Speaking on Saturday at the media briefing to update on the epidemic on the island, Dr. Francisco Duran, Epidemiology Chief at the Ministry of Public Health, said Cuban authorities are unhappy with that rate,

“We are trying to improve the care, we try to encourage people to go to the doctor as a soon as they feel symptoms, so that the disease is caught on time, allowing us to reduce this lethality, regardless of the fact that many times the pathologies that these patients have, beyond COVID, makes their evolution more complicated.”

On Saturday, Duran informed about one additional death of a 44 male Cuban patient in Santiago de Cuba.
