Havana, May 5 (RHC)-- An intense day of work on Monday -- which began at the Palace of the Revolution with the participation of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the Virtual Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement "United Against COVID-19" -- had as its culmination the usual meeting of the temporary working group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus, which is led daily by President Diaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.

With the confirmation of 19 positive patients to COVID-19, Cuba registered this Monday the lowest number of daily cases in the last 15 days, a figure that, although it places us in a better scenario, cannot be a reason for confidence among our population.  It is also essential to maintain strict surveillance on each case, mainly in the places where local transmission events of the disease are open.

Public Health Minister José Angel Portal Miranda commented on the closure of four local transmission events, in which 28 days have already passed since the last case was confirmed.  They are the International Film and Television School, in the municipality of San Antonio de los Baños, in the province of Artemisa; the popular council Naranjal, located in the municipality of Matanzas; as well as El Carmelo and Vedado, both in the Havana municipality of Plaza de la Revolución.
