Havana, May 30 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated the island's full support for the World Health Organization (WHO) and rejected the decision of the U.S. government to end its relationship with that entity and withdraw its financial support.

On his Twitter account, Cuba's top diplomat ratified Havana's support of the WHO and stated that Washington's position reflects its growing isolation, attacks multilateralism and undermines the international effort to ensure health and save lives.

The worldwide rejection of the U.S. decision is widespread and this Saturday, for example, the European Union reiterated its support for the World Health Organization and urged the current U.S. administration to reconsider its decision.

The EU stressed that global cooperation and solidarity are the only effective and viable ways to win the battle against COVID-19, and stressed that the WHO must continue to be able to lead the international response to this pandemic and others in the future.

The United Kingdom and several global health organizations expressed their support for the global entity.
