Havana, July 22 (RHC)-- Cuba warned on Thursday about the announcement for Friday of a flotilla from the United States to the area near the border of its maritime territory.

In a press conference, the island's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, urged the United States government to avoid incidents that are not in the best interest of anyone.

The top Cuban diplomat added that he expects the U.S. government to apply and guarantee that its laws are complied with and reminded it of its responsibility with what is already a gross violation of international law.

It is surprising, added Rodriguez, that people are allowed to engage in activities of this nature amid a pandemic.

For this Flotilla to take place, there has to be an official authorization from U.S. government authorities, which is surprising that they have given it in the circumstances.
