Havana, September 23 (RHC)-- On Thursday, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted the feat that means that the country already has all the doses of vaccines it needs to immunize its population before the end of 2021.

On his Twitter account, the Cuban president pointed out how difficult the road has been since the call to achieve anti-Covid-19 vaccines of its own. "What seemed like a dream is today a beautiful reality," he emphasized.

He also thanked all "those who have put body and soul into this feat."

The day before, the president of the Group of the Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba (BioCubaFarma), Eduardo Martínez, informed the press of the feat.

"More than a year and a half ago this colossal task began, we bet on our capabilities and experience and the productive record was achieved," he commented.

He referred to the development and manufacture of the Abdala, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus immunogens, including the doses without thiomersal.

Martínez Díaz said that it would not be possible to vaccinate the population if the vaccines had been acquired abroad, nor would it be possible to carry out the mass vaccination campaign in children and adolescents.
