Havana, October 23 (RHC)—Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel blasted on Saturday Washington’s efforts to threaten Cuba with new sanctions if the island’s authorities do not allow its local operators to stage an illegal march in November.

The Cuban leader was referring to remarks made by Juan Gonzalez, National Security Council Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs. The U.S. official said that Washington would impose further actions on the Caribbean island if it pressed charges against participants in marches planned for November 15, which Cuban authorities have described as illegal because they seek regime change.

On Twitter, the Cuban President wrote: “When the U.S. government speaks out, it is the one that finances and organizes the destabilizing scheme, which gathers any group or institution, dollars willing, that contribute initiatives against the Revolution. Enough of threats! Cuba is sovereign, said Diaz-Canel.

In another tweet, he noted that the empire wants impunity for its operators in Cuba and threatens with more measures. What arrogance, haughtiness, and frustration of the empire. It will receive the dignified response of our people.
