Venezuela to support the reconstruction of Cuban supertanker base

Caracas, Aug 18 (RHC)-- President Nicolás Maduro said that the authorities of the Venezuelan Petroleum Ministry will support the reconstruction of the damaged oil depot in Matanzas, Cuba.

In the ceremony to decorate the firefighters and experts of the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), who intervened in the extinction of the fire of significant proportions registered in the industrial zone of the Cuban city, Maduro ratified the solidarity of the South American nation with the Government and people of the island.

"Cuba knows that it can count on our scientific, technical, engineering, and workers' support; (...) get in touch with the Cuban oil and energy authorities to start the design of the reconstruction of the supertanker yard in Matanzas", instructed the Venezuelan president.

He also stressed that under no circumstances will the Caribbean country be alone, and it will always count on "the support of the peoples of the world and sensitive, courageous and humanist governments."

From the hands of President Nicolás Maduro, 43 firefighters and experts from PDVSA received the replica of the victorious saber of Carabobo and the Order Francisco de Miranda in its Second Class for the solidarity shown during the extinguishing of the fire at the Matanzas supertanker base.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised the solidarity and brotherhood of Venezuela and Mexico towards the island for their prompt response to the fire that hit the industrial zone of the western province.

From his Twitter account, the Cuban head of state stressed that "we will never forget the heroism and brotherhood of the Mexicans and Venezuelans who came to support us in confronting the fire."
