Cuba's Minister of Foreign Trade highlights excellent relations with Barbados

Havana, September 3 (RHC)-- The Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX), Rodrigo Malmierca, met on Friday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Barbados, Jerome Walcott.

On Twitter, the Cuban representative said that during the meeting, there was evidence of the common will to develop relations between the nations.

In that social media network, he also referred to the fraternal exchange with Cuban people working in Barbados in the health and sports sectors, in which compatriots residing in that country, Barbadians graduated from Cuban universities, and people in solidarity with Cuba also participated.

Malmierca is participating in the Afro-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF 2022), inaugurated on Thursday by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, and in which he took part in the Presidential Panel, where he explained the historical links that unite Cuba with Africa and the Caribbean, as well as the potential for the development of economic relations.

The event will last until Saturday and is attended by, among other representatives, the president of Suriname and the president of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Chandrikapersad Santokhi.

This ACTIF 2022 was convened by the African Export-Import Bank and the Government of Barbados in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, the Africa Business Council, the Caribbean Community Secretariat, and the Caribbean Export Development Agency.
