Havana, September 4 (RHC)-- Cuba published the Law on Penal Execution in the Official Gazette, following its approval by the National Assembly of People's Power, Granma newspaper reported Sunday.

This provision, approved last May 15 by the country's legislature, seeks to regulate the execution of principal and accessory sanctions imposed on natural and legal persons.

It also includes the security measures provided for in criminal law. For this purpose, it defines the actions of the bodies, agencies, institutions, organizations, and other subjects that participate in the process of enforcement of the law.

It is also proposed to execute the precautionary measure of provisional imprisonment, under the principle of presumption of innocence and the treatment corresponding to that legal situation, and the compliance with the obligations imposed by the court to the accused in the cases in which it decides the conditional dismissal.

It also regulates the control of the execution of criminal sanctions, security measures, provisions relating to civil liability, and other obligations imposed in the corresponding court decision.

It also ensures compliance with the objectives of the sanctions and security measures, the social reinsertion of the sanctioned and insured persons, their education in the principles of an honest attitude towards work, strict compliance with the laws, and respect for the rules of social coexistence.

The Penal Execution Law went through 12 versions from March 2019 to January 2022, and for its conformation, it counted on comprehensive consultation with specialists from different institutions.
