Havana, Oct 6 (RHC) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted the sensitivity in the actions of female leaders helping populations affected by Hurricane Ian, in the western territories of the country.

In his Twitter account, the dignitary said that Cuban women always give "a little extra to the daily exercise of responsibility that should distinguish the leaders of the PCC".

Ian crossed the province of Pinar del Río on September 27, with category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale (out of five), and caused severe damage in that territory, it also affected Artemisa, Havana, Mayabeque, and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud.

Its sustained winds of more than 200 kilometers per hour and heavy rainfall destroyed plantations, and houses, caused serious damage to the economic infrastructure and basic services, and collapse for several hours of the national electricity generation, among other damages yet to be quantified.
