French activists say Cuba is not a sponsor of terrorism, it is a victim

Paris, October 24 (RHC)-- The French association Cuba Linda described Monday as mind-boggling the presence of the Caribbean nation on the unilateral U.S. list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

In a statement, the organization created in 1998 to promote ties between France and Cuba denounced that Cuba is a victim of that scourge and warned that this decision adopted by Donald Trump before leaving the White House in 2021 serves as a pretext to tighten the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington for more than 60 years.

The list of sponsors of terrorism intensifies the extraterritorial nature of this senseless and criminal blockade against the Cuban people, he stressed.

Among the consequences of the measure, the organization specialized in travel to know the reality of the island cited the prohibition of banks to transfer funds to the largest of the Antilles for fear of the astronomical U.S. financial sanctions.

What is mind-boggling is that it is the United States that has subjected and financed hundreds of terrorist acts against Cuba, and yet it allows itself to carry out the shameful accusation against an altruistic and supportive country, he pointed out.

Regarding the blockade, Cuba Linda recalled that at the beginning of November the UN General Assembly will once again pronounce itself on a new resolution, almost unanimously supported by the international community for three decades, which includes the need to put an end to the unilateral siege.

In this sense, we are launching a campaign to inform and denounce the terrorist acts against the island, and that the U.S. blockade is also a terrorist act, he said.

The French association will provide details about the initiative in the coming hours.
