Cuban Broadcaster's Day

Havana, Dec 1 (RHC) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated on Thursday the Day of the Cuban Broadcaster, an event established in the national territory since 1954.

 

On his Twitter account, the president congratulated those he described as professionals of the word and assured that their voices are the voice of the country.

 

This Thursday, several authorities and institutions of the country have paid tribute to the work of these communicators through social networks, among them the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz; the Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman; the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feitó; the Ministries of Communications, and Economy and Planning, the University of Havana, among others.

 

In Cuba, this day is celebrated as a tribute to the II Inter-American Congress of Broadcasters held in Havana in 1954, and in memory of the renowned broadcaster Jorge Luis Nieto García (1920-1953), from Ciego de Avila. (Source: ACN)
