Cuban president sends message to Chinese counterpart on the death of Jiang Zemin

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel sent a message to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in which he expresses his deep sorrow for the death of his dear friend Jiang Zemin, last Wednesday.

Havana, December 2 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel sent a message to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in which he expresses his deep sorrow for the death of his dear friend Jiang Zemin, last Wednesday.

In his letter dated November 30, the Cuban dignitary recalls that Jiang made a great contribution to the socialist cause of the People's Republic of China and to the promotion and comprehensive development of the ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and that Asian nation, which made him worthy of the 'José Martí' Order, according to information published Friday on the website of the party organization.

In the letter to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCP) and president of the People's Republic of China, Díaz-Canel extended, on behalf of the people, the CCP, the government and his own, his deepest condolences to the Chinese people, Party and government, as well as to Jiang Zemin's family and close friends.

The CC-CCP also sent a letter expressing its deepest condolences to the CPC Central Committee on the death at the age of 96 of former President Jiang Zemin, whose funeral is scheduled for December 6.
