Havana, Dec 20 (RHC) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated on Tuesday the Federation of University Students (FEU), on the occasion of the centenary of its founding by revolutionary leader Julio Antonio Mella.

From his Twitter profile, the president acknowledged that the organization reaches its century "without getting old, connected to its country and its time".

Previously, the head of state shared a phrase of the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), included in the speech delivered during the last day of the IV conclave of the youth organization, on December 20, 1990.

On that occasion, the late leader said: "(...) here we have Mella, José Antonio, Fructuoso, Frank País, today they are not fighting for a hope, but fighting for a reality and to make that reality better and more beautiful".

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez assured that the FEU is on the front line of the transformations and defense of the homeland, with the ideals of Jose Marti and Raul Roa, as an unbreakable shield. (Source: PL)
