The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, sent on Thursday a grateful congratulations to the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), on the occasion of its 64th anniversary.

Havana, January 5 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, sent on Thursday a grateful congratulations to the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), on the occasion of its 64th anniversary.

Through Twitter, the head of state stressed that the members of this body defend the internal order with ethics, conscience, responsibility and revolutionary pride.

"Our grateful congratulations to the #PNR, educated to defend the internal order with "the conscience, ethics, responsibility and revolutionary shame of each combatant," as Army General Raúl Castro asked them to do in 1998," wrote the chief of state, and added to his message the hashtag #HéroesDeAzul (HeroesOfBlue).

The official constitution of the PNR took place on January 5, 1959, having as immediate antecedent the Rebel Police, which operated in the hills of eastern Cuba during the last stage of the insurrectional struggle.

In April 1961, during the Bay of Pigs mercenary attack, the PNR Battalion played an outstanding role in the defeat of the invading forces, organized and supported by the United States government.

The main mission of this body is to preserve public order, public tranquility and road safety.
