Havana, Feb 25 (RHC) Representatives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and the Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States ratified here their commitment and support for Cuba.

Lamarco Cable, co-executive of Global Ministries, expressed his solidarity and obligation to the Cuban people.

He pointed out that during his stay in the largest of the Antilles, he was able to witness the negative impacts of U.S. policies while assuring that he will share his impressions with authorities of the northern nation.

For his part, the director of the Florida Council of Churches, Reverend Russell Meyer, explained the obstacles faced by his organization in sending medical supplies and containers with medicines to the island, particularly due to the confiscation of funds by a New York bank.

"As a nation, we need to love our neighbor" he stressed.

Meanwhile, the bishop of the Florida Bahamas Synod, Reverend Pedro Suarez, expressed his support to the island against the blockade imposed by the United States, a policy he considered harmful and affixing.

He pointed out that upon his return to the United States, he will count on the resilience of the Cuban people, and he will work in favor of the lifting of the economic blockade and the exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism. (Source: PL)
