National Electoral Council: Voting goes on normally all over Cuba

Havana, Mar 26 (RHC/CD/PL) The president of Cuba's National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, reported that voting this Sunday is proceeding normally.

 

In her first news briefing on the national elections this March 26, she added that polling stations opened very early in the morning and the population has been going to the polls throughout the country.

 

The election day has started satisfactorily, with the system activated as established by the Electoral Law since 7:00 am, she said.

 

Balseiro informed that at 11:00 am information will be provided on how many voters have voted up to 9:00 am.

 

She reminded that there is an electoral roll of 8 120 072 voters. There are 23,648 polling stations and 250 special polling stations in the country.

 

The polling stations will remain open until 6:00 pm, in case an extension is needed, it will be informed in due time, she explained. (Source: PL)
