Vice Minister heads Cuban delegation to ECLAC forum

 

Havana, Apr 26 (RHC) - The Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Deborah Rivas heads the Cuban delegation to the meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, which is meeting in Santiago de Chile today.

The intergovernmental meeting will be inaugurated this Wednesday by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinach, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Santiago Cafiero, foreign minister of Argentina.

The Cuban deputy minister fulfills a broad agenda in Santiago de Chile that included a meeting with Enrique O'Farril, executive director of the Chilean Agency for International Development Cooperation. Both parties reviewed the state of bilateral cooperation and agreed to join efforts to increase it.

Rivas also held a meeting with Chilean businessmen interested in the development of trade and investment in Cuba.

The deputy minister will speak at the forum that examines the progress and challenges of the region in meeting the 17 goals outlined by the United Nations for 2030, including the end of poverty and hunger, health and well-being, quality education, equality of gender and decent work.
