Díaz-Canel met with Portuguese businessmen (Photos:@PresidenciaCuba).

Havana, July 15 (RHC) Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, met Saturday with Portuguese businessmen from different sectors of the economy.

The head of state discussed the strengthening of economic relations mainly in the sectors of food, tourism, construction, biotechnology, domestic trade, health and renewable energy sources, according to the Presidency on Twitter.

Several of them, some of them with presence in Cuba and others in the process of doing so, valued the confidence they feel for the country, the preparation of the personnel, the culture, the nature of the island, and the history that has united both countries.

During the meeting they discussed issues that slow down and bureaucratize processes, and the effects of the U.S. blockade maintained for more than 60 years against the Caribbean nation.

Díaz-Canel thanked the businessmen for their work with Cuba, and highlighted the way in which they are participating in the country's main development plans,

We feel a lot of commitment, respect and admiration for you, said the president.

In the meeting, he referred to the intention of the largest of the Antilles to increase the presence of national products in Portugal, including biotechnology, rum, tobacco and coal, while invited the Portuguese businessmen to participate in the Havana Fair.
