Havana, November 6 (RHC) -- Cuban Public Health Minister Jose Angel Portal has described as a heartbreaking reality the situation that Palestinian women and children are living in the face of Israel's disproportionate aggression against the Gaza Strip.

"As of November 3, two thousand 326 women and three thousand 760 children and adolescents lost their lives in this new wave of violence. These figures represent 67 percent of all the fatalities caused by this new escalation," lamented the Caribbean head of state.

Every day, 420 children are killed or injured, even some of them only a few months old, and that is an unacceptable reality, said Portal in a message published on the web page of the portfolio he heads.

Shockingly, some 50,000 pregnant women are currently in Gaza, and they and their children are in grave danger due to the lack of access to adequate medical services, he warned.

The lack of food, water and medical care put the lives of mothers and newborns at risk.

Cuba's Minister of Public Health called on the international community to demand an end to the disproportionate violence and to unite in the struggle for justice and peace. (Source:PL)
