Cuban president laments deaths in Venezuela due to mine collapse

 

Havana, Feb 22 (RHC) The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today lamented the loss of human life due to the collapse of a mine in the state of Bolívar, in Venezuela.

Through the social network X, Díaz-Canel expressed heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela and extended his condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

According to official reports, the death of at least 15 people has been confirmed and another 11 were injured due to the collapse, the day before, of an illegally exploited gold deposit in that state.

Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro said that Civil Protection teams were immediately sent to the site of the tragedy, which will remain working at the site day and night. Likewise, two helicopters were made available to transport the injured to hospital centers.

Maduro conveyed all his support to the families of the miners and the injured, and assured that they will reinforce the rescue phases.

The government of the state of Bolívar reported in a statement that Civil Protection and security teams are carrying out rescue work for the victims. (Source: PL)
