Italy welcomes important figures of Cuban ballet

 

Havana, March 22 (RHC) The prima ballerina and general director of the National Ballet of Cuba, Viengsay Valdés, and the principal dancer Ányelo Montero, will perform on March 24 at the Grand Gala at the Grosetto Modern Theater, Italy.

The Cuban dancers will perform selections from the ballet Carmen, by Alberto Alonso, and a pas de deux from Love Fear Loss, where they will be accompanied by the Cuban pianist Marcos Madrigal. In addition to offering her art as a dancer, Viengsay Valdés will teach a master class.

The gala will be attended by Fumi Kaneko and Vadim Muntagirov, leading figures of the Royal Ballet of London; Elisa Carrillo Cabrera and Mikhail Kaniski, from the Berlin State Opera Ballet; and Maia Makhateli, from the Holland National Ballet.

The Grand Gala will be a classical and contemporary dance show conceived by professor Débora Ferretti, director and organizer of events aimed at giving opportunities to young students. That is why several of them selected from prestigious academies in Europe and new talents from Tuscan dance schools will perform at the show.

For Ferretti, in her own words, Valdés will be a special guest at the meeting. She described the director of the Cuban ballet company as a personality of high artistic value who has already become part of the history of dance.

According to Ferretti, Valdés’s fouettés, admired throughout the world, are the strongest, most powerful and technically perfect.

Regarding the Cuban main dancer Montero, he is a rising figure and is considered one of the most valuable exponents of the new generation of Cubans in dance. (Source: PL)
