Havana, February 6 (RHC) -– A multimedia work entitled Fidel Castro, the 1959 Freedom Caravan was launched Thursday in Havana as a record of the island-wide tour of the Cuban leader upon the revolutionary triumph that defeated the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.

The multimedia work, which will be available at the upcoming 24th International Book Fair, encompasses images, texts, audio archives and speeches by Fidel during the national tour that kicked off in eastern Cuba and concluded in the western provinces during the first 17 days of January 1959.

The work was the result of a joint effort by the Institute of Cuban History and the Abdala Recording Studios and it is the first chapter of a larger project on personalities, since other outstanding figures will also be featured in upcoming works, such as politicians Eduardo Chibas and Raul Roa, as well as writer Alejo Carpentier.
