Havana, April 21 (RHC)-- UNICEF's Regional Office in Cuba issued a communique condemning Monday's horrific terrorist attack in northern Somalia, in which seven people including four members of the UNICEF staff there, were killed.

Five other members of UNICEF are reportedly being treated for severe injuries sustained in the attack.

The communique issued by the UNICEF regional office in Cuba reads: “We firmly reject acts like the one that has just occurred in Somalia, as we strongly condemn any action that jeopardizes the lives of those who devote their efforts to the benefit of all children and adolescents, everywhere.”

“We offer our sincere condolences to and solidarity with the families of our colleagues who were killed in this moment of sadness. We also make our own the words expressed by UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake, when he said that the UNICEF staff who were killed and wounded in Somalia are not victims, but heroes.”
