Havana, January 16 (RHC)-- Official delegations from the United States and Cuba met Thursday, January 12th, in Havana for the 3rd Meeting on Mutual Compensation Claims.

The Cuban delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno, while the U.S. delegation was led by State Department Legal Adviser Brian Egan.
The Havana meeting gave continuity to a previous exchange
held on July 28, 2016, in Washington D.C., with the two delegations negotiating the settlement of joint mechanisms to resolve the complex issue.

The Cuban delegation highlighted the Cuban people's claims for human and economic damage, which are contained in the rulings issued by the Provincial People’s Court of Havana in 1999 and 2000, respectively.

The U.S. and Cuban delegations agreed to hold further talks on this issue in the future.
