Havana, January 8 (RHC)-- Chilean President Michelle Bachelet arrived in Cuba on Sunday for a two-day official visit.

She will hold talks with the Cuban authorities and will receive the honors corresponding to her high office on Monday, during the official reception to be given in this capital by her counterpart Raúl Castro.

Bachelet, who is in Cuba on her penultimate international tour prior to the end of her term on March 11, will lay a wreath before the monument of Cuban National Hero José Martí, in Revolution Square.

The Chilean president will also participate in a business forum and will exchange with students and workers of the Salvador Allende pedagogical school.

On Sunday, hours after her arrival, Bachelet attended the signing ceremony of a bilateral cooperation agreement in audiovisual production at the headquarters of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).

Michelle Bachelet´s first term as president of Chile was from 2006-2010. She was elected for a second time for the period 2014-2018.

Next March 11, Bachelet will be replaced at the helm of the Chilean government by Sebastián Piñera. Like her, he is occupying the Southern American nation top executive post for a second time.
