Santiago de Chile, January 23 (RHC)-- Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, has renewed Cuba's commitment to unity and integration among all Latin American and Caribbean nations and peoples.

Addressing the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Forum between China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Santiago, the Chilean capital, Minister Rodríguez said the forum with China will contribute to regional development and the wellbeing of Latin American and Caribbean peoples.

Minister Bruno said: “We appreciate the importance of continuing to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and friendship within the framework of the Celac-China Forum, based on the opportunities it offers to take on the challenges of a complex global scenario.”

The top Cuban diplomat recalled that Cuba was the first Latin American nation to establish diplomatic relations with the Asian country. He further said that the CELAC-China Forum, whose first ministerial meeting was held in January of 2015 in Beijing, is one of the most important cooperation spaces with extra-regional partners.

According to official sources, Latin America and the Caribbean is the second destination of Chinese investments, after Asia. China is also the region's second most important trading partners.
