New York, May 3 (RHC)-- Speaking at the general debate of the 40th Session of the Committee on Information of the United Nations, the Permanent Representative of Cuba to the Organization, Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, condemned the ongoing radio and television aggression by the United States Government against the island, which is contrary to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and various provisions of the International Telecommunication Union.

According to the ambassador, on average over 1600 hours per week were transmitted illegally in 2017 from the United States territory against Cuba through 19 frequencies. The Cuban diplomat voiced her strong rejection of the use of information and communications technologies in violation of international law, further pointing out that their use must be consistent with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, in particular with respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of States.
