Havana, January 20 (RHC) -– Alberto Alvariño Atienza, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, led a Cuban diplomatic delegation to visit Beijing and explore developments in China’s publishing industry.

The delegation included officials and executives from Cuba's publishing and media industry.

The group visited the Beijing Youth Daily Group, publisher of the capital’s flagship newspaper Beijing Youth Daily and nine other newspapers, including the popular Legal Evening News and First Financial Daily.

For the delegation, the trip was a chance to learn about China’s advanced printing hardware systems, in the hopes of the future implementation of such technologies in the Caribbean island, which still is far behind world average in terms of printing technologies.

During the exchange, both parties emphasized the common history and fraternal ties between the peoples of Cuba and China, and the need to find new fronts for joint cooperation.

This 20-day trip to the capital of China offers a precious opportunity for Cuban media to exchange ideas with their Chinese counterparts on the development of national printing industry. During the trip, the delegation also visited printing factories for other mainstream media including the Beijng Times and People’s Daily.
