Havana, December 14 (RHC-PL) -- Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Toro said the Cuban public stands today among those who are more familiar with the film industry in Latin America, living it "with passion."

Speaking with Prensa Latina news agency during the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, del Toro said that he enjoys coming to the film festival in Havana "because it is a great experience and I also love working with the people here."

According to the Oscar winner actor, the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema is one of the most important events of the cinematographic world around the globe.

Invited by the festival's organizers, the Puerto Rican actor presented two projects that he recently collaborated with: the documentary "El Poeta de La Habana" (The Poet of Havana) about Cuban singer and songwriter Carlos Varela, directed by Canadian Ron Chapman, and "Un día perfecto" (A Perfect Day), a film by Fernando León.

In addition, Benecio del Toro held a meeting with students from the International School of Cinema and Television of San Antonio de los Baños, located on the outskirts of Havana.
