There are signs of concern from the White House

We are still immersed in the most difficult stage of a health crisis that in little more than one year has caused almost 122 million infections and 2.68 million deaths, and there are already alarming signs that show the post-pandemic world will not be any better than it was before.

Western powers, headed by the United States, have shown a selfish attitude concerning COVID-19 vaccine distribution and, these ambitions for hegemony have recently increased in a planet wounded and full of concerns.

We are referring to the heightened tensions between Washington and Moscow, after President Joe Biden, totally unbecoming of his inaugural speech, spared no insults against his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

It was a personal attack, at odds with good diplomacy, that used the most elementary norms of international relations, which will certainly bring major consequences.

A report from Prensa Latina news agency states that several personalities have expressed their opposition to Biden's expletives, among them the vice-president of the Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev.

It’s common knowledge that, during an interview, the current resident of the White House answered “yes” when a journalist asked him if he believed that President Putin was a murderer.

"Such statements are unacceptable under any circumstances and drastically exacerbate our bilateral relations," wrote Kosachev.

But that is not the only thing that has happened these days on a global scale.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson surprised everyone when he said that he intends to increase his nuclear arsenal by 40 %, which could trigger a new arms race.

The fact is that atomic bombs are not a collection of interesting and passive objects. They are kept because the intention of using them exists at some point, whatever the cause might be.

The question arises as what does Johnson have in mind as the eventual target of his renewed mass destruction weapons?

Once a nuclear war is unleashed, there are no winners, because all of humanity will be defeated.

It is unfortunate that when there is so much to worry about, some Western leaders are way too busy heating up the atmosphere with inappropriate language or not-so-subtle threats.
