Cuba pledged maximum support to CELAC, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, from the pro tempore presidency it holds in the Group of 77 plus China, a possibility that adds a new breath to an indispensable bloc for the region south of the Rio Grande.

This was announced by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, while speaking at the seventh summit of CELAC, successfully held in Buenos Aires, after a remarkable work of the Head of State of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, who was praised by the Antillean speaker.

As the most universal of Cubans, José Martí, had recalled, Díaz-Canel emphasized that achieving the unity and integration of Our America is a shared duty.

The dignitary urged his colleagues at the CELAC meeting to apply solidarity and cooperation, postulates protected by Cuba even in difficult material situations such as the present ones, under the pressure of the U.S. blockade.

And the siege is diabolically joined by the inclusion of Cuba in a unilateral U.S. list of countries that from its point of view sponsor terrorism, an unfounded initiative that severely impacts the economic development of the Caribbean nation, as Díaz-Canel stressed.

The seventh summit and several of the invited leaders expressed their opposition to this coercion in a separate statement.

In the opinion of many, it is admirable that Cuba, even in the midst of material shortages and suffering the aftermath of accidents and natural catastrophes, continues to be an example of resistance.

This was also expressed by Cubans living in Argentina, some of the local businessmen, intellectuals and representatives of solidarity movements of the southern country, in separate meetings with Díaz-Canel.

As part of an intense agenda, the Antillean statesman met with these people and with colleagues participating in the CELAC forum.

There is no heart that can remain still in the face of so many expressions of gratitude, affection and respect, said the Cuban Head of State.

And this happens in spite of malicious campaigns by the hegemonic press and the Latin American right wing and other latitudes to isolate the land of José Martí from its natural environment.

Cuba offers a modest contribution to that region, since it is poor, but even so, it is still relevant, as an Argentinean woman underlined when she thanked Cuba for its support in the literacy training of tens of thousands of inhabitants of the southern nation.

These grains of sand are an exaltation in a world full of uncertainty.
