Bob Menendez does not want to listen

 by Roberto Morejón

Refusing to be disheartened, Gail Walker, director of the Interfaith Foundation for Pastors for Peace Community Organization, continues to denounce the blockade of Cuba, despite being prevented from talking about it with an influential senator.

Walker was briefly arrested along with activists recently, when she attempted to meet peacefully with Congressman Robert Menendez, one of the hawks in the legislative arena in favor of tightening sanctions against Cuba.

Walker and two others wanted to discuss what they recognize as the cruelty of the penalties against Cuba and its arbitrary inclusion in a list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.

According to Walker, they tried several times to meet with Menendez, but their requests were ignored.

Apparently, Menendez does not hold in high regard Pastors for Peace, a group founded in 1992 by Reverend Lucius Walker, who headed solidarity initiatives with Cuba until his death.

Lucius' daughter, Gail, continued the project and regrets that Joseph Biden's administration did not fulfill campaign promises to mitigate anti-Cuban measures.

By the way, Biden was heard when after a speech he addressed Robert Menendez, to whom he said he was eager to talk about Cuba.

The questioning caused astonishment to many because the Democratic senator never set foot on Cuban

soil and constructs a distorted vision of its reality.

During Barack Obama's term, Menendez opposed the normalization of ties with the Caribbean neighbor and has done the same during Biden's term, urging him to attack the island for sending doctors abroad on solidarity missions and supporting Cuba’s exclusion from the Summit of the Americas in California.

Robert Menendez, who drafted Chapter II of the anti-Cuban Helms-Burton Act aimed at tightening the blockade, has been singled out for profiting from the suffering of the Cuban people, in a very accurate reading made by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

As can be seen, the senator is very busy in his work against the country where he points out that his parents were born, although time is also scarce as he is facing legal charges, due to the possibility that he may have received undisclosed gifts.

While he organizes his strategy with his lawyers, Menendez does not let his guard down in his conspiracies against Cuba, a country for which he does not admit the simplest gesture of altruism.
