The children's theater company La Colmenita (The Little Beehive) celebrated its 30th anniversary with the performance of its play 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' on February 29 and March 1 at Havana's Karl Marx Theater.

'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' is based on the Grimm Brothers fairy tale, with screenplay by Julia Gonzalez, music by Yamel Romero, choreography by Iraida Malberti and direction by Carlos Alberto 'Tin' Cremata.

La Colmenita was founded by Cremata himself in 1990, with the objective of instilling in the younger generations of Cubans human values through literature and artistic creation, specially theater. It also serves the purpose of involving ordinary children and adolescents and others with special educational needs in enjoying art to develop their own inner world with the best of universal literature.

Cremate has repeatedly told reporters that La Colmenita does not train artists, but promotes human values and leads children to do good works every day.

La Colmenita was named a Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF in 2007. Acclaimed internationally, the experience of La Colmenita has been replicated in several countries around the world, with the creation of similar theater groups in Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Argentina, Spain and Canada.
