Outdoor dance photography

Havana, May 26 (RHC)-- The José Martí Cultural Society and the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) have called on photographers from around the world to participate in the 1st Alicia Alonso International Dance Photo Contest.

The contest is as part of activities on the 100th birthday anniversary of Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, which extends through December 2021. Alicia’s vast legacy include the prestigious Cuban Ballet School.

Organizers said that the aim of the photo contest is to appreciate and promote the work of Cuban dancers, dance professors and choreographers in Cuba or abroad.

Those interested can submit works in several categories, including stage or backstage photography, dance lessons, studio photography and outdoor dance photography, among others.

Authors can submit up to three entries, which should be sent via e-mail to the following address:

artworks.aliciaphotoconest@gmail.com.ir.

Deadline is August 25th, 2021.

An international jury made up of prestigious photographers from United States, Russia, Argentina and Cuba will select one First Prize in each category and a Grand Prize for the Best Photography.

The winning entries will form a collective exhibition that will be inaugurated on occasion of the 101st birthday anniversary of Alicia Alonso. It will be exhibited at several iconic public spaces all across Cuba.

The 1st Alicia Alonso International Dance Photo Contest is co-sponsored also by Matria -- a creative project by artist Gabriel Davalos, with support from the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC).
