Danzon Habana Festival opens on digital platforms

Havana, July 13 (RHC)-- The 12th edition of the Danzón Habana International Festival began Tuesday, July 13th and runs through the 16th on digital platforms, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the National Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and to Cuban musician Miguel Failde on the 100th anniversary of his death.

The event dedicated to danzon –the Cuban national dance- pays homage also to musicians Odilio Urfé, Félix Reina, Enrique Jorrin, Antonio María Romeu.

The event’s program includes colloquiums, panel discussions, master classes by renowned experts and exponents of the Cuban genre.

Highlights include the conferences “Odilio Urfé, impacto y vigencia de su obra para la música y musicología cubana”, by researcher José Reyes Fortún; and “El danzón, símbolo integrador de lo cubano”, by Eduardo Rensoli Medina.

A panel debate entitled “El Danzón en el pensamiento de los artistas y escritores cubanos”, will also hold sessions in the framework of the 12th edition of the Danzón Habana International Festival. Keynote speakers include renowned Cuban artists and intellectuals like José Loyola, Pedro de la Hoz, Jorge Vistel and Ehiel Failde.

Canal Clave of Cuban television will broadcast a special programming with concerts featuring Cuban orchestras, notable exponents of danzon, among them Estrellas Cubanas, Siglo XX, Rubalcaba, Aragón, Sensación, Failde, Piquete Típico Cubano and Charanga de Oro.
