Cuban maestro José María Vitier delights Spaniards with his art

José María Vitier

Havana, Sept. 29 (RHC)-- Cuban pianist and composer José María Vitier gave a concert at the Nou Barris Square, in the framework of the Mercè Festival –the largest annual cultural event in Barcelona, Spain.

The concert was dedicated to the Cuban capital –Havana. Vitier performed pieces composed by him for iconic Cuban films as ‘El siglo de las luces’ and ‘fresa y chocolate’, and the tune ‘Amor’ (Love), which is a poem by his father –renowned writer, essayist and literary critic Cintio Vitier—set to music.

José María Vitier was accompanied onstage by the Voces symphony orchestra, Catalan singer María del mar Bonet, Cuban pianist Marcos Madrigal and percussionist Abel Acosta.

The mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau attended Sunday’s concert.
