Septeto Sones de Oriente

Havana, Feb. 10 (RHC)—Septeto Sones de Oriente –the oldest septet ensemble in Cuba-- is immersed in the production of a new album to celebrate its 84th anniversary.

Entitled ‘Anda camínalo’, the new musical production is being recorded at Siboney Studios of the record and musical editions company EGREM in eastern Santiago de Cuba.

Founded on October 10th, 1938, by trest guitar player, maestro Delfino Puente, Septeto Sones de Oriente are exponents of traditional Cuban genres, particularly son, which they combine with other contemporary Cuban and foreign rhythms.

Hits over more than 8 decades of artistic life include: ‘No te dejes quitar el son’, the title track of the album released under Japan’s Studio Dubreel label, precisely on occasion of the band’s 80th anniversary.

Other hits, with which Sones de Oriente has delighted their audiences in Cuba and around the world include ‘La Mora’, ‘Pa’l Monte’, ‘Al compás de un guaguancó’, ‘Arrinconao’, ‘Yo soy de esta tierra,’ ‘Tírame la pelota’, among many others.
