Casa de las Americas hosts colloquium on Latin American & Caribbean women's issues

Havana, Feb.23 (RHC) -- The Studies Program on Women of the Havana-based Casa de las Américas, created in 1994, is hosting an international colloquium on Latin American and Caribbean women’s issues, from life expectancy and social life to labor conditions, labor hours, migration, women’s rights, history of women’s movements, women empowerment.

Entitled “Tiempos, destiempos y contratiempos en la historia y la cultura de las mujeres latinoamericanas y caribeñas”, the event deals also with the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on women and the presence of women’s issues on regional literature, film, theatre, visual arts and music.

On Thursday, three Cuban female university professors will debate on the achievements and challenges of women in today’s Cuba.

Running through February 24th, the international colloquium on issues affecting Latin American and Caribbean women is being attended by experts and scholar, mostly female university professors and historians from Cuba, Mexico, Canada, United States and Italy.
