Havana, May 3 (RHC)-- The Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey arrived Wednesday at the FitCuba 2023 International Tourism Fair, as a defender of the cultural and heritage bastions of this Cuban region.

For the institution, its work is key in the promotion of the 510th anniversary of the city, to be held in February next year, and for which the institution has a program ranging from scientific exchange workshops and experiences, to the execution of works in the Historic Center of the former Villa del Puerto del Príncipe, recognized by Unesco.

Luis Viamontes Borrás, director of the Tourist Information Office in the territory, said that "the planning and implementation of the Art Plaza Circuit in the main urban spaces of the city, is one of the experiences that we promote and make available to participants in the International Tourism Fair," which will be held in Havana until the 5th of this month.

Precisely one of Cuba's heritage cities is once again launching a project to revive itself economically through the Arte Plaza Fair project, promoted by the Office of the Historian of the City.

The better use of the cultural potential of the city of Camagüey, founded in 1514, is key to the country's tourism and economic development, and this is once again a recurring idea at this year's International Tourism Fair, which is being held in the Cuban capital.

Coupled with the Creative Industries project Arte Plaza, the Office of the Historian also includes a creative circuit in the area declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Only in the city of Camagüey, whose historic center is a World Heritage Site, the hotel facilities of the Cubanacán Group's E Brand offer their services to foreign travelers.

Despite the complex economic situation Cuba is going through, the country continued to be a coveted tourist destination, as evidenced by the visit of several tour operators to this heritage city at the end of 2022.
