Concerts in Havana celebrate Cuba's historic achievement

Havana, July 26 (RHC) -- A wide program of artistic offerings is scheduled starting Wednesday in Havana, in homage to the 70th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Barracks, National Rebellion Day.

On Wednesday, the rock band Toques de Rio and the popular dance music group Adalberto Alvarez y su Son performed at the central stage of La Piragua, on Havana's Malecon, starting at 9:00 p.m. local time.

Today, Thursday, at the same place and time, the concert of urban artists Charly and Johayron will take place, while on Friday the orchestras Maichel Blanco and Combinación Cubana will perform, as well as the young musicians of Manana Club.

According to the Culture Department of the Plaza de la Revolución municipality, on Saturday, the group Chispa y sus cómplices will be at La Piragua, as well as the brothers Christian and Rey, who continue the legacy of their grandfather Pacho Alonso, one of the greats of Cuban popular music.

During these days, a national holiday, several initiatives are taking place in different territories of the island in salute to this historic attack against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, which took place on July 26, 1953, considered the driving force of the Cuban Revolution.
