Bronze for Cuban mixed duo in modern pentathlon in Cali 2021

Havana, December 6 (RHC)-- The Cuban duo of Diana Leyva and Marcos Antonio Rojas won the bronze medal in the modern pentathlon mixed relay on the final day of the I Pan American Junior Games Cali 2021.

The Cuban team started the competition well, dominating heat 2 of swimming with a time of 01:56.06 minutes, which earned them 318 points; while in fencing they scored 235 points and 290 in equestrian, according to the official website of the event.

Finally, in the combined shooting and running event, they scored 556 points, for a total of 1,399 units, in a sport that took place at the Club Campestre de Cali.

The representatives of the Island escorted on the podium the exponents of Mexico and Guatemala, winners of the gold and silver metals, in that order.

For the pentathletes of the Caribbean nation, this was their only medal in the continental multisport event in Cali, while the Cuban delegation finished in fifth place in the medal standings with 29 titles, 19 silver and 22 bronze awards.
