Havana, January 18 (RHC)-- Reigning champion Caribes de Anzoategui will host Navegantes del Magallanes today at their home in Puerto La Cruz, in the start of the grand finale of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).

Both teams secured their presence in the decisive stage of the championship after finishing tied in the semifinal round, held in a round-robin format, with an identical balance of 10 wins and six losses.

For the third time in history, Caribes and Navegantes will fight for the highest baseball award in Venezuela, in a duel that is even at one win for each side.

In the 2013-2014 season, the crown went to Magallanes, a distinction they have not won since then, while the team from Anzoátegui took revenge in the following season.

Both Caribes and Navegantes reached the title game on the back of a brutal offense in the previous round, during which each team hit 17 home runs, with a similar balance of 91 RBIs in 16 games.

In the confrontations between the two teams in the semifinal phase, Magallanes came out on top on three occasions, while the Anzoatiguense team was only able to win on one occasion.

Navegantes will once again dispute the Venezuelan baseball crown after six years of absence in this instance, while the Caribes aspire to the title for the third consecutive season, seeking to reedit the triumph achieved last year, that time against Cardenales de Lara.
