Havana, January 5 (RHC) - Two of the main athletes of Cuban Greco-Roman wrestling will travel to Europe next Sunday to take part in two international events.

According to colleague Yimy Castillo, the gladiators who will open the Cuban wrestling season in the old continent will be Tokyo-2020 Olympic champion Luis Orta and world medalist Oscar Pino. Both will be accompanied by the chief trainer of the Greco-Cuban wrestling, Raul Trujillo.

The first competition will be the Henry Deglane Grand Prix, in France, from January 20 to 22, and the second will be the Zagreb Open, Croatia, from February 1 to 5.

After the Zagreb lid, belonging to the 2023 Ranking Series circuit, they will return to Cuba to compete in the main Cuban wrestling tournament, the Granma-Cerro Pelado international tournament, held in Havana's Ciudad Deportiva from February 15 to 20.

Historically, wrestling is one of Cuba's main sports, with several Olympic and world medalists, and is also one of the island's great hopes to climb the podium in Paris-2024.
