Havana, May 13 (RHC) --The presidents of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Umar Kremlev, and of the Cuban Boxing Federation, Alberto Puig de La Barca, held a dialogue in Tashkent on issues of common interest.

In the context of the world championship, which concludes on Sunday in the Uzbek capital, both executives resumed issues addressed during Kremlev's visit to Havana in November last year.

In that sense, the head of the IBA ratified his interest in having here an international institute that contributes to the development of this discipline and was informed about the steps inherent to the conception of the work.

He also reiterated that efforts continue to settle the outstanding debts with the Cuban medalists in the 2021 and 2022 continental competitions, linked to the restrictions of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island.

The purpose is to activate the way so that in future events the payments can be made under the same conditions as to the competitors of the rest of the countries.

Puig put in his hands the invitation of the president of Inder, Osvaldo Vento Montiller, to participate in the X International Convention of Physical Activity and Sport, and the head of the IBA assured that he will do everything possible to attend.

In another moment of the exchange, the Cuban executive expressed his concern about the work of the officials in the current universal event, and he particularly expressed his disagreement with decisions against athletes of his team.

He explained that this is a criterion shared by several delegations and said that any verdict not adjusted to what happened in the ring, in addition to frustrating years of efforts, leaves a negative effect for the institution.
