Havana, May 19 (RHC) - Fifteen finals will be disputed this Friday at the opening of the Cuba Cup of athletics, scheduled for its usual venue of the Pan American Stadium in eastern Havana.

Considered the national championship of the king sport on the island, the Copa Cuba will feature most of the top figures of Cuban athletics, including the triple jumper Lazaro Martinez, world champion in the indoor, and the world champions of the 4x400 Roxana Gomez, Rose Mary Almanza, Zurian Hechavarria and Lisneidys Veitía.

The 400 meters final, in which Roxana Gómez, also an Olympic finalist in Tokyo 2020, has been announced, will be the main attraction of this first date.

For Cuban athletics, the Cuba Cup will serve as preparation for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, scheduled for June 23 to July 8.
