Havana, June 9 (RHC) - Olympic bronze medalist Maykel Massó will make his debut at the Diamond League in Paris, in an event where the world's leading long jumpers will be present, led by the Tokyo-2020 champion, Miltiadis Tentoglou.

Massó (24 years old) will be the only Cuban present at the fourth stop of the prestigious athletics circuit.

The Santiago native is having a good outdoor season, in which he achieved the second record of his career (8.36m) last May at the Cuba Cup in Havana, just 3 cm away from his personal best (8.39 in 2021).

With his record of 8.36m, he has already qualified for the Budapest World Championships (August), in addition to placing second in the World Athetics (WA) world ranking and fourth in the world ranking.

For Daniel Osorio's student, this will be his third outdoor competition of the season, first in the old continent.

In the French capital, the U-18 and U-20 world champion, and fourth in the last world championships in Eugene-2022, will have as his main opponent the Greek Tentoglou, winner in Tokyo-2020 and owner of an 8.60 lifetime mark.

Also on the Paris jumping podium will be Switzerland's Simon Ehammer (8.45), Sweden's Tobias Montler (8.27), Uruguay's Emiliano Laza (8.28) and the United States' William Williams (8.23) and India's Sreeshankar (8.36), the latter a student of young Cuban coach Yoandry Betanzos.

Some of the stars of world athletics will be present at the 4th stop of the Diamond League, among them some from Latin America, such as the Dominican Olympic and world runner-up Marileidy Paulino (400m).
