San Salvador, July 3 (JIT) - To the crown in volleyball, male branch, CUBA added victories on Sunday in handball (m), softball (f) and water polo (m) during the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games, with main venue in this capital.

In the high net sport, the pupils of Nicolás Vives showed their power by beating the Dominican Republic 3-0 in the dispute for the gold medal, to finish the tournament undefeated.

The handball players defeated the Venezuelans 30-20 in the first day of the competition held at the Multigymnasio Don Bosco, located in the outskirts of this city. Their next games in the preliminary stage will be against Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic to define the pass to the semifinals.

The softball players also made their debut in style, defeating Curacao 11-1 at the Pablo Arnoldo Guzman Stadium. The schedule has games against Mexico and Guatemala before entering the decisive phase.

As for the polo players, with actions in the swimming pool of the El Polvorín Sports Complex, this Saturday they "killed" the locals 25-1 and on Sunday they overcame the Venezuelans 13-12. They have one game left against Puerto Rico in the group stage.

The basketball players debuted with an 86-56 victory over El Salvador. However, this Sunday they stumbled against the Puerto Ricans with a score of 84-90. This Monday they will face the Aztecs to define the fate of that group.

The action continues in the always striking team sports, where Cuba has already celebrated crowns in handball (f) and volleyball (m), but aspires to more.
