Santiago de Chile, July 13 (RHC)-- Cuba's multi-awarded Greco-Roman wrestler Mijaín López reiterated Wednesday in Santiago de Chile his aspiration to win his sixth Pan American title and fifth gold medal at the Olympic Games.

Lopez is visiting the Chilean capital at the invitation of the Panam Sports organization, which recently chose him as ambassador of the maximum edition of the continental sports event 'Santiago 2023'.

The Cuban said to Prensa Latina news agency that after his victory in Tokyo 2020 he made a pause in his activities due to the number of consecutive years in high-level competitions, but once again he is already focused on new challenges.

In the short term, his first goal is to climb for the sixth time to the top of the continental podium and then he will be focused on Paris 2024, where he aspires to become the first athlete in the world to win five Olympic medals in the same sport.

"That is a dream and I would be very proud to achieve that result that so far no one has achieved. It takes sacrifice and preparation, but I feel good and happy and I can achieve it," he said.

He added that he already started a gradual preparation, with the purpose of getting a proper adaptation before entering the Greco-Roman wrestling mats again.
